How to play live baccarat online
Live baccarat follows the typical gameplay: you guess which side between the Player and the Banker will have a higher hand. If you bet correctly, you win a payout. Let’s dive into the specifics below:
- Upon entering a game, adjust your bet amount using the interface typically placed at the bottom of the screen.
- Place your wager by choosing which hand you want to bet on: Player or Banker. Most games will also give you the option to place side bets to provide you with an extra boost in your winnings.
- Once you place your bets, the dealer will draw two cards for each hand. They will automatically show you the draw results at the end of the round. The hand with the closest to a total value of 9 wins
- If you win your bet, you will receive your payout. Otherwise, you can try again for the next round.
Card values
A typical live baccarat game uses 8 decks of 52 card packs. Each card face is assigned a value. Cards 2 through 9 are worth their face value. The 10, Jack, Queen, and King, are worth zero, while aces are worth 1 point. Jokers aren’t used in baccarat.
When cards are drawn, their values are added to get the total hand value. If it exceeds 9, the left digit is dropped, and only the right is used. For example, if a hand pulls an eight and a Queen, its total value will be 8. However, if a hand draws a 9 and 4, its initial total is 13 final, but its final hand value is 3.
Betting options
You can place three main bets in baccarat: the Player, the Banker, and a Tie. You can follow the table below for their winning and payout odds.
Bet type | Payout | Odds of winning | House edge |
Banker bet | 1:1 | 45.86% | 1.06% |
Player bet | 0.95:1 | 44.62% | 1.24% |
Tie bet | 8:1 | 9.52% | 14.36% |
Considering the data above, you’ll notice that the Banker bet has a slightly higher chance of winning over the player bet—this is why many players tend to bet on the Banker’s hand. Just be aware that all Banker bets you win will have a 5% commission, which goes to the casino.
In terms of a Tie bet, you’ll notice that it has a much lower probability of winning at only 9.52%. The trade-off is that it gives a significantly higher payout at 8:1 your bet. If you’re feeling a little lucky and are willing to take a bit of a risk, go for a Tie bet for the enormous payout.
